Your Personality- a concept misunderstood by many
Your Face is the Mirror of your mind.
No cosmetics can camouflage your commitment to what you say and do.
It gets reflected on your face and any common man can recognize it instantly.
Every one can become a millionaire if you have a desire
It is the desire in you that make you grow
To grow you need information, knowledge, skill and attitude
Skill and attitude makes you think
Thinking makes you creative
Creativity in you develops your personality
Your personality makes you learn to LOVE
Love makes your Body, Mind and Soul work in tandem
When your mind body and soul work in tandem, you become humble, pleasant, communicative and understanding; you become silent, observing, analyzing, and calculative; and that free you from ego, because you need people to support you.
This makes your fellow beings become your followers; and you become the Leader.
The followers carry your personality to the world… by the time you have become a creative millionaire with out working for it.
Easiest way for you to become a Leader is follow the ISO principle PLAN-DO- CHECK- ACT
In all ISO standards the words “efficiency and effectiveness” are repeatedly used, because you need to integrate these two in your field of activity to ensure PQCDSM. That means, Increasing your profit & productivity, improving your Quality of the product & service, cost reduction, delivery on time, safety of your employees and morale boosting of the employees and the organization as a whole.
Creation
Both Bhagavat Geetha & Quality Management System, emphasis on creation. There are two types of creation. One is Group Creation Or collective creation (in ISO referred as Top Management) and other one is individual creation (ISO refer it as competence).
Group Creation
In group creation a group of people joins to share and agree to create an organisation to deliver prosperity through manufacturing or trading, or service providers or any other means like MLM, gambling, fooling people like click 2 earn or any other different means like smuggling, or fake currency printing, what ever may be your group intention, it is immaterial as per Geetha. Then what are more important are your DUTY, DEDICATION, DETERMINATION and DECIPLINE towards the end result. (This is referred in ISO as Management Commitment). The Collective creation for the purpose of the Organisation is referred as the SCOPE in ISO standard.
Individual Creation
Here it matters with adopting your knowledge, skill and attitude with respect to what you are expected to perform. It neither does refers to your academic excellence or what you have achieved in your previous years. They are only a gate pass to enter the organisation.
In the organisation, you have to perform to the company’s expectation. Individual creation is making use of the opportunity in the company to excel and make best out of the bargain.
I am very confident that 99% of business houses certified ISO are unaware about what is mentioned above.
VALUES
In ISO it is termed as ‘factual approach to decision making’
“….It is the aim of education to train us to apprehend the eternal values, to appreciate the supreme human virtues and simple decencies of life. We must be educated not for cruelty and power but for love and kindness. We must develop the freshness of feeling for nature, the sensitiveness of soul to human need. We must foster freedom of the mind, the humanity of heart, the integrity of the individuals. Even from the nurseries, we must train human beings by unconscious effort to love truth, beauty and goodness.”
- Dr. S. Radahakrishnan
Mostly values are not adequately focused by businessmen/ common man, who are always in hurry to have money in their bank before the cheque issued comes for realization.
Most of the earn money on line are typical examples of actions with ignorance about values. They think people who receive their mails are donkeys. Surprisingly, many fall into their trap.
Remember friends those doesn't give significance to human values are floaters in space; because your dreams have taken you far away from the influence of earth's gravitational force. Respecting human values makes you down to earth person, who always has firm footing.
You are forgetting that when you are a seller to a customer, you are also a customer to some other seller. What ever may be your actions it will come back to you in some other form which is equal to or greater than your actions, today or tomorrow or in the near future. - This one of the most valuable advice given to Arjuna by Krishna. This advice helped Arjuna to regain his confidence. This where, concept of Dharma has its significance. Therefore your Dharma is the management of your duty/ commitments/ obligations Vs Human Values.
In extreme circumstances we are compelled to go against human values. In such cases you have to adequately compensate the actions with penance.
In Hindu philosophy a Brahmin needs to recite 1008 times Gayathri Mantra to purify him self and conduct annadaan. In ancient wisdom, if you want to cut a tree, the wood cutter first request pardon to all the birds and lives in the tree for making them loose their home and prey to them to find another suitable place for shelter and have mercy on the wood cutter for the sin committed which is inevitable. Next, he preys to the tree for its permission to chop it. Then they conduct rituals before the tree is cut. Those century old pillars and ceilings made out of those trees are still intact with out any pest attack.
Ancient wisdom is so sacred when it comes to values.
You have to become a Leader to succeed!
In ISO it is mentioned as “Customer focus & enhancing the satisfaction of the customers”
In the new version ISO9000:2008 internal customers ( employees) are given more focus, as international survey revealed, if your employees are satisfied with the management, profit, goodwill and surplus automatically follows.
You may not believe me or ISO, but you can’t refuse BIBILE. Here are some quotes from Bible.
“Where there is no leadership the people fall, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety. (Proverbs 11:14)” Bible quotes
“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God”- Bible quotes
“Great men are not always wise” Bible quotes
“A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult” Bible quotes
“Give, and it shall be given to you. For whatever measure you deal out to others, it will be dealt to you in return.” Bible quotes
“Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.” Warren G. Bennis quotes
A wise man has great power, and a man of knowledge increases strength. [Proverbs 24:5]” Bible quotes
“Leadership is action, not position.” Donald H. McGannon quotes
“The function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers.” Ralph Nader quotes
“A good objective of leadership is to help those who are doing poorly to do well and to help those who are doing well to do even better.” Jim Rohn quotes
The most interesting of all is from the book from world famous Management Guru, Anindam Choudari ‘COUNT YOUR CHICKENS BEFORE THEY HATCH’. It talks about “India Centric Theory ‘I’ Management. ‘I’ refer to managing business in India.
Towards the end of the book, you will come across a chapter,’ SLEEPY COWS TO GALLOPING HORSES, [Lord Krishna, Mahatma Gandhi & globally relevant Indian management mantras.]
It is most absorbing, funny, and gives true picture of Indian consumers. It starts with ‘things don’t turn up in this world until somebody turns them up.”
Mr. Choudari classifies Indian executives in three categories. There are those who can get short term results and haven’t a clue where they’re going to take the company in the future.
Conversely, they are those with great ten- year plan but are going to be out of business in 10 months.
And then there are those who can get short term results in conjunction with a VISION for the future. THESE are Leaders. But they are in unbelievably short supply.”
This observation of Mr. Choudari is the purpose of ISO 9000:2008 standard. It is termed as “Continual improvement”. This process of improvement establishes an efficient and effective quality management system improving the organization’s ability to sustain and improve.
Continual improvement means step by step improvement in terms identifying time bound short term objectives, one after other, such that you reach your VISION.
This exactly what Bhagavat Geetha means by saying Your VISION/ Goal (Include Duty, Dedication, Determination, and Discipline) is important than the path you take to reach the goal. This is the basics of Karma yoga in which Krishna Says, You need not have to prey to me, your work is your God, it is worship oriented, love me, believe me, use my advices at the appropriate time, then be assured I am with you. I can quote from other religions as well on these lines. Because this is as true as sun rises in the east!!
There are many examples in Trivandrum, who has no clue about where they are taking the company to the future. One is about a two wheeler dealer who was flourishing for some time became much beyond zero and committed suicide to escape from liability. He had a son and daughter. The daughter was the elder (just 21years old) was a colleague of mine in ICICI PRUDENTIAL. Honestly tears used to come in my eyes hearing about her story of huge sum taken by her father from Private financiers. What that young girl could do to meet this liability as interest is mounting. This can happen to any one who does business with out a Vision or proper planning, risk assessment & emergency preparedness. ISO 9008 is the easiest method for efficient and effective management of crisis, and to become a Leader!!!
Efficiency & Effectiveness
Today in India, most misused are ISO Certification and MBA degree. In the process, most of MBA's remains unemployed or lesser paid. Value of ISO is found to be declining. Both deal with common sense.
I have many explanations to define these concepts based on ISO. But the terms are well explained by Mr. Choudari, in his chapter’ SLEEPY COWS TO GALLOPING HORSES, referring Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, Mahatma Gandhi approach as an observations of his Professor Chatterjee.
In the chapter Lord Rama was referred as an efficient Leader and Lord Krishna as an effective Leader. Professor Chatterjee has no doubt in his mind, had Krishna were in the place of Lord Rama, He wouldn’t have gone to 14 years of forest life, Ravana could have stolen Seetha or send Seetha to Agni pareeksha by listening to somebody’s comments. He elaborates it with Krishna’s Viswaroopam in front of Arjuna to make him sensible. With showing Viswaroopam, Krishna told Arjuna, “Understand, if you cannot do it, I can do it myself to establish Dharma in this region. But I am not doing it because it is your duty to do the job.” That is a leader is all about. In crisis, you should be brave enough to come to the fore front and convince others you are capable of doing it your self.
Professor Chatterjee goes with his observation further on Krishna jokingly, this man had two qualities which leaders in general don’t…he knew how to dance and make others dance to his tune. The picture doesn’t remind you of a great dynamic corporate leader, nor does he reminds you of a tough task master. Yet, he happens to be the greatest of all the leaders that can be thought of. Every time invariably, what ever the situation, this man used to be a winner. Lord Krishna knows how to be effective. He knows how to use management by direction with Arjuna. It goes on and on Krishna as effective leader.
Nehru & Indira Gandhi may be sited another example of efficiency & effectiveness. Nehru would not have dared to split INC and form INC-I,which Indira Gandhi successfully has done.
Efficiency is your actions based on set norms and direction & conventions, which Lord Rama did it and became model of complete human being. Nehru too was on these lines (dogmatic). Where as Indira was pragmatic always rose to the given situation. She new too well the Indians such that she knew where to break the rules. This is the definition of a Professional.
Professor.Chatterjee, observed Mahatma Gandhi as an effective leader. The story goes like this. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose became the INC president defeating Gandhi’s candidate. He came up with a war cry ‘Give me your blood, I will give you freedom.” Then marched forward after moving 100 yards, he looked back and saw no one is there to follow him. Where as Gandhi new the Indian’s complacency nature & British law well that he asked his followers to march with him. A wonderful hassle free method to get Independence, so every Indians marched towards an independent India.
You have to become a leader to succeed!!!
